The Warriors continued to pressure the storm, getting a few shots off within the last few minutes of the game. The storm ended up defeating the Warriors in the district final 2-0, punching the ESHS girls soccer team a ticket to state.
After a week of preparation, the stages for the first round of state soccer were set. The Elkhorn South Girls soccer team were matched to play Bellview West. Bellview West was a familiar competitor for the storm after they had already matched up 2 times earlier in the season. Bellview West had defeated the storm both times they previously matched up. Leading the Elkhorn South girls to be the #5 ranked seed entering the state tournament.
The Storm were fired up to play Bellview West for a third time, and had a few changes in store within their game plan. “We changed our formation to a 5 back,” Senior Gabby Wagenfuhr said on a NebPreps interview, when asked about how the storm were able to eliminate one of Bellview West’s top players from the attack.
The storm ended up defeating Bellevue West 3-1 with 2 goals coming from Creighton commit Wagenfuhr, and the other coming from a banger of a strike by senior Blu Keiper. The storm are now set to play #1 seeded Lincoln Southwest on Friday May 15th at 12pm. “I’m really excited because Southwest looked really beatable,” Wagenfuhr said.
