The moment the statistics became a story. 39 carries. 309 yards. Starting running back Jaydon Sutko entered the Homecoming game on Sept. 5, vs Bellevue West like it was any other game. Little did he know he was going to break the rushing record set 10 years ago for yards gained in a single game.
“After realizing I broke the school record I felt really good, and we also won the game too so it made it even more exciting,” Sutko said.
After almost half of his junior season was stolen from him due to being hospitalized with a burst appendix, Sutko was hungry for a successful senior season.
After a comeback against a top-10 team, Sutko helped lead the storm to a 24-17 victory, keeping their undefeated streak alive. Sutko felt accomplished when he realized he broke the previous record by 45 yards. He anticipated to get a lot of yards this season but when he found out he broke the record he was overwhelmed with joy.

“My teammates, family, and friends have pushed me to work as hard as I can. My coaches call the plays for me, and the offensive line has my back always,” Sutko said.
Sutko sees this team as a family. They motivate him everyday to better himself and work his hardest. Sutko is a very unselfish player and prioritizes working as a team. He trusts everyone will do their part of the field which helps lead him to success.
Head Coach Guy Rosenberg said, “Jaydon loves to compete and has fun playing football. He’s a positive leader who supports his teammates and holds them a high standard. He invests heavily in offense, defense, special teams, and leadership,”.
Sutko doesn’t go unnoticed when it comes to his coaches perspective of his leadership on and off the field. Football is his biggest passion in life and he gives his full commitment to getting better everyday. As a senior, Sutko has a big role on this team and he fills it by making sure everyone is focused and giving their all during practices and games. He will be continuing his athletic journey next year at Fresno State.
“My goals for the rest of the season are to go undefeated in the regular season, make the playoffs, and hopefully break the school record for rushing yards in a season,” Sutko said.
