This season will go down as one of the best for the Elkhorn swim team, resulting in multiple victories and individual achievements.

As a group, they have accomplished the most points scored by Elkhorn/Elkhorn South at the Metro conference Meet, produced the most swims at the high school state meet, qualified 7 athletes for Metro Conference All-Academic team, and have several girls considered for Academic All-American,

“They have been relentless in practices and competitions, and the payoff has been their performances during meets,” said coach Jay Thiltgen. “They are a true testament to a strong commitment of success in the pool and the classroom.”

This year, they beat the defending state champs Lincoln Southwest in a dual, had an undefeated dual meet record, and challenged Marian to the
end of every meet they competed against them.

“We are a class-act that is well respected by every other top-tier team and coaching staff in the state,” coach Thiltgen said. “They have a very professional and “blue collar” style to their success in the pool and the classroom.”

After this year, the team will transform from one of the oldest and experienced teams in the state to one of the youngest. Under such a great class of seniors, the underclass swimmers improved a lot and gave reason to believe they can be just as successful as their predecessors.

“This is our largest senior class, and I am looking forward to watching them continue their future plans in and out of the pool,” said Thiltgen. “For the remaining team next year, it will be a totally different challenge, but our talent level will still be very high.”

High expectations follow this team into the state meet and it will be exciting to see how they finish the season. The team will look to build on this already record breaking season and add another accolade for this 2020 girls team!
