787 miles away from home. Sophomore Saylor Edinger moved to Nebraska at the beginning of the 2025 school year from Kentucky. Edinger participates in the Elkhorn South Varsity Cheer Team not only as a supportive teammate, but also fulfills a leadership role.
“Coming to ESVC is so enjoyable considering the wonderful people and amazing athletes I am surrounded with,” Edinger said. Her previous experiences have not always been the most challenging, but on ESVC everyone makes each other better.

Moving far away from home comes with more struggles than just finding a new program to be a part of. It comes with leaving the people you love and starting new friendships.
“The hardest part about moving to Nebraska was leaving my best friends and my boyfriend in Kentucky,” Edingershe said. Although she has found a great community filled with positive people, she still misses her people back home in Kentucky.
Hoping around from state to state is a common occurancething for Edinger. With her Stepdad’s job she is on the go within a few years. That has made it much easier for her to make new friends and become a part of many teams across the country.
“She is very calm and shy at first, but once you get to know her she talks a lot more and is more outgoing,” Edinger’s Teammate, Finlee Goeser said. Goeser is in her sophomore season of ESVC and has welcomed Edinger into her friend group and the ESVC program.
Although Edinger has movd to Nebraska, she still goes back to visit her friends and boyfriend very often. She is definitely someone who prioritizes her friendships and loved ones.
“She came in well prepared and had the work ethic of ESVC from the start of the season,” senior Lizzy Vondrak said. Coming into a successful program like ESVC Edinger knew it was not going to be easy.
She put in a lot of hard work before tryouts in order to make the team. With less days of practice and completely new cheers, Edinger knew that she would have to work extra hard to earn her spot in this program.
“She came in well prepared for tryouts and understood the commitment that comes with being an ESVC athlete,” Vondrak said. With such a consistent cheer team, Edinger did not let down the coaches with her strength and ability to adapt to new challenges.
