Late this summer Taylor Swift, the famous pop star, got engaged to Travis Kelce, Kansas City Chief’s tight end, after being together for approximately two years. Their relationship began in the summer of 2023 and it led to their engagement on August 26, 2025.
Kelce proposed at his Missouri home, with a flower arch surrounding the couple. The scene cost around 40,000 dollars. This relates back to Taylor Swift’s ninth album, evermore, where the song, champagne problems, has lyrics talking about a failed proposal but in reality, she got a real proposal. How? He purchased an old mine with a brilliant cut in a yellow gold bezel.
This relationship started when Kelce tried to meet Swift at the Arrowhead Stadium. He tried and failed to give a friendship bracelet to her with his number on it. After Swift reached out to him, the rest was history. Her whole theme of her songs revolves around a relationship where a guy is crazy for the girl and she seems to get that in real life.
This couple’s relationship seemed to be the one for Tyalor Swift because of the many coincidences throughout the years. In 2018, Swift posted with player Chase Daniel after her Reputation tour, who helped Kelce with his first NFL touchdown. People also noticed that she references the colors red and gold in her music, which happen to be the Chiefs’ colors. Also, Taylor’s first performance at Arrowhead Stadium was in 2011, the same date as the day that she attended a Chiefs game with Kelce 12 years later. Even in her lyrics in her song, “…Ready For It?,” say “Knew he was a killa’ first time that I saw him,” with Kelce’s Instagram account name being “killatrav.” Her relationship is just like her lyrics in the song, “Fifteen.” She said, “In your life you’ll do things greater than dating the boy on the football team.” She was in the middle of one of the highest grossing tours ever and dating the guy on the football team.
Many people are Swifties and are very happy for this pop star. Some students from Elkhorn South High School wanted to share their input on the star announcing her engagement.
Senior Jace Windeshausen and Sara Clatterbuck shared their input on this engagement. These two students are the best of Taylor’s fans. They seemed to be very happy with this engagement.
“When I saw it, (the Instagram post) I was shook. I didn’t know about it until my mom texted me, and I literally threw my phone across the classroom and said ‘This is not real.’ I was freaking out… it was such a surreal moment,” said Windeshausen.
Clatterbuck also said that she was so happy for both of them.
“I have always been a ‘swifty’ and I have been to almost all of her concerts. I got eras tour tickets in Florida for my Crhistmas present a few years ago. I also love the chiefs. I was super excited and overall happy for the couple and can’t wait for her new album because I’m sure a lot of it will have to do with her love life,” said Clatterbuck.
Both of them stated that they were especially happy for Swift, as she always wanted this daydream engagement and love life.
For years, Swift sang songs about castles, daydreams, and love stories. Now, with a football boy, it seems that those are no longer just lyrics: they are her reality.
