Hair trends for both men and women tend to fluctuate by the years, even the months. Hair is the perfect way to express yourself, either in a subtle or a bold way. I think it’s easy to focus on women’s hair trends since we tend to be more high-maintenance and daring in that department, however there are many styles that could elevate men’s looks as well.
The first hairstyle, that happens to be my personal favorite, is the mens 60’s mod haircut. This haircut is perfect for those who want something more low maintenance, but still prefer having their hair shorter and out of there face. It adds an effortlessly cool look to any outfit and frames the face nicely without having anything too blunt.
The next style that I love is the colored buzz. This is perfect for those who like to be more wild with their style and go out of the box. It’s an easy way to add a spin to the classic buzz-cut. This style is great with a solid color, or if you’re feeling crazier, a design drawn on that will show everyone how bold you are.
The last style I’m going to talk about for men, is the classic 70’s shag. To me, this hairstyle is timeless and perfect for those that like a more “androgynous” look. The 70’s shag is normally shoulder length or a little shorter, with frayed ends and often paired with a light fringe. If you’re feeling groovy, then you should try out this iconic 70’s style.
Now it’s time for the real deal, my favorite incoming women’s hair trends. The first trend is darker colors, such as a black-plum, black-cherry, or black-blue. This is perfect for those who can’t commit to a super bold color but still want to add an edgy twist to their hair.
To pair with the color, I’ve been in love with layers, layers, and more layers. Layers are amazing when it comes to adding dimension to your face and giving more thickness and shape to your hair. Especially when you have time to blow out or style your hair in any way, it’s an easy way to make heads turn.
This next style is slightly controversial, but hear me out, micro-bangs are here to stay. I’m going to be honest, micro-bangs are not for everybody. At one point, I tried them and they looked awful, however they look amazing on the right face shape. Microbangs are the perfect way to add a twist to your hair and a great way to show your boldness and confidence.
The last women’s hair trend that I’m going to mention is untamed and unstyled hair. I get this inspiration from icons like Kate Moss, Devin Aoki and Lily-Rose Depp. All these beauties aren’t afraid to go out on the street with slightly messy hair and I think that the effortless look is really chic. These are some of my favorite up-and-coming trends that I’ve been seeing all over and have been relentlessly advocating for.
