Real Kings Fix Each Other’s Crowns
The 2020 Mr. Storm competition took place on Wednesday March 4th. Seniors, Josh Oarhe, Josh Bressler, Henry Crocker, Sam Hendricksen, Jack Paradis, and Connor Gress competed for the coveted title of Mr. Storm (and a fully stocked mini fridge).
Junior Mia Jewett and Officer Tony Ramaeker hosted the show, while Mr. Kalvoda, Mrs. Gonnring, Mr. Cross, and Mrs. Parlor judged.
“I really enjoyed hosting Mr. Storm,” said Jewett, “It’s a super cool event and is a for a really good cause so it was awesome getting to be a part of it.”
The competition was made up of four sections: swimwear, talent, formal wear, and question and answer. The talent section included: Oarhe performing Uptown Funk on saxophone, Hendrickson singing Tight Pants, Paradis attempting to drink half a gallon a milk, Crocker singing the infamous Country Roads, Take Me Home, Bressler tearing 60 bananas while singing Let it Go, and Gress juggling.
Ultimately, Oarhe took home the crown, with Crocker winning Mr. Congeniality, and Bressler winning Runner-Up.
“Thank you all. This is a moment of history for us. I believe I am the first black Mr. Storm in Elkhorn South history.” said Oarhe.
Mr. Storm raised over $1,500 for the Make-A-Wish foundation. Congratulations to all the participants and thank you to the student council for putting together this event.
