Why Can’t We All Just Get Along?

America has turned politics into a divisive subject once again. People of different political views are no longer able to have civil conversations. Instead people are stooping low and name calling, blaming and showing no respect towards others. Why can’t we all just get along?

As humans, our first instinct is to judge. It’s something that we all subconsciously do. Judgement is poisonous and instead of actually talking we turn towards attacking.

This attacking manner is creating a divided nation. People are beginning to believe that you can not be friends with someone who believes differently than you.

This is the first problem that needs to be fixed, lack of respect. When someone is stating their opinion. It is something only they need to believe in because it is theirs to begin with. We need to stop being pot stirrers constantly trying to prove people “wrong.”

Mister Rogers kind of puts it best, “Mutual caring relationships require kindness and patience, tolerance, optimism, joy in the other’s achievements, confidence in oneself, and the ability to give without undue thought of gain.”

We all need to change our mindset into showing respect to others. I’m not telling you who to vote for or to change your party affiliation. All I’m saying is we need to show each other more kindness and respect towards others political views.
